Environmental Policy
Environmental Policy
Woolton Veterinary Centre is an independent, small animal veterinary practice. At Woolton Veterinary Centre we pride ourselves on gold standard care for all loved pets; dogs, cats, rabbits and other small furries. We acknowledge that our operations have an effect on the environment in terms of the use of raw materials, emissions to air and water, and waste generation.
-
Consumption of electricity, gas and water.
-
The use of volatile anaesthetic gases
-
Waste generation
-
Use of raw materials including prescribed drugs and medicine
-
Transport emissions
-
Procured goods and services with their own environmental impact
The owner’s commitment to the environment has seen a refurbishment of the practice that utilises innovative processes to provide a safe and healthy working environment for employees whilst providing gold standard care to our patients and clients.
All staff at our practice are committed to reducing the environmental impact through a journey of continual improvement by working through the Investors in the Environment scheme. In 2022, we achieved a Bronze award through the Investors in the Environment scheme in recognition of our commitment to reducing our impact on the environment.
Our environmental commitment can be demonstrated in our established objectives and goals below:
-
Compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and public/customer expectations
-
Working with our suppliers to ensure they acknowledge and decrease the impact of their products and transportation
-
Monitoring our key resources and implementing conservation techniques to achieve our environmental targets
-
Implementing a waste and recycling policy and sustainable procurement policy
-
Taking part in activities that benefit the environment and the local community
-
Publishing and distribution of an annual organisational sustainability report
-
Undertaking independent annual audits with Investors in the environment
We will continue to improve our environmental management system through annual reviews and updates, taking into account any changes within legislation, our organisation, and other factors. We will convey this policy to all our employees and make certain that they are provided with proper training to increase awareness of environmental matters.
Jess Bowey, Registered Veterinary Nurse, has a designated responsibility for the day-to-day implementation of this policy.
