At Woolton Vets we provide all of the vaccinations, parasite treatments and routine checks that a dog, cat or rabbit could need and are firm believers that protecting a pet’s health starts with preventative healthcare. So we make sure that all members receive discounts on this important aspect of their pet’s healthcare.

Sometimes life is one big juggling act. We’re here to lighten the load when it comes to pet care; we offer a convenient home delivery service for all pet flea and worm treatments for our members. If you’d rather collect in person by visiting the practice, just let us know when you place your pet’s parasite medication request!

We are a family run, independent vet practice who pride ourselves on offering the very best in veterinary care, underpinned by traditional values. This ethos runs through everything we do, and is the reason we love nothing more than to build relationships with our clients (both two-legged, and four!) for continuity of care, which is in the best interests of our patients.

We are cat friendly!

We suppose (or hope) that all veterinary practices are. But we have gone the extra mile for feline patients, and we have been awarded for it! The Cat Friendly Clinic scheme, run by the International Society of Feline Medicine, sets out best practice guidelines for cats in the veterinary setting. From creating a serene waiting area and enriching accommodation to make their stay more pleasant, right up to how cats are handled, as well as best practice for treating them medically/surgically, they have got it covered. And so have we! As Silver Award holders, we understand that the needs of cats differ vastly from those of dogs. We focus on creating a calm, relaxing environment for our feline friends, which improves both their mental wellbeing, and their speed of recovery. Our team are trained in the latest treatment options specifically for cats, so we can tailor our approach for the best standard of care.

We are rabbit friendly! Of course we are, we’re vets. But we’ve gone one step further by working towards, and being certificated to show, that we understand the intricate needs of this precious and vulnerable species, which vary so greatly from those of cats and dogs. We have a deep understanding of the husbandry, surgical, medical, and practical needs of rabbits under our care, especially when visiting the practice. For more information about what it means to be a ‘rabbit friendly’ vet practice, click here to read our blog.

For your peace of mind, even when the surgery is closed, as a Woolton Vets customer you have qualified veterinary professionals at your fingertips, 24/7 with our video vet service – Vidivet. Video, audio, even text message, a response to your veterinary query is just moments away

A simple touch, which makes all the difference. Separating cats and rabbits from dogs both while they’re waiting to be seen by our team, and during their stay with us, eliminates inter-species anxieties. This makes for relaxed pets, who are happier to be assessed and treated, and who have positive experiences at the vets

Our team of vets are both knowledgeable and experienced, and can provide a robust first opinion veterinary service which pet owners can rely upon. Like all good professionals, we know when to hand the reins over to specialists who have undergone years of additional training in their field. Occasionally we deem this necessary in order to obtain the best outcome for a patient. Rather than sending clients off to an unfamiliar veterinary hospital in their time of need, we invite the specialists to us! Not only is this convenient for the customer, but it also makes for a joined-up service between the referring vet (us) and the referral vet (the specialist). We are visited by specialist soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeons, specialists in imaging, as well as cardiologists.

In a pet’s time of need, speedy diagnosis of conditions means that we can provide the best treatment plan, and do so fast. Our in-house laboratory capabilities include blood profiles, urine analysis, cytology, disease monitoring and more, mostly with same day results.

Our modern digital veterinary X-ray machine allows us to take multiple images in quick succession, and manipulate those images for detailed and accurate assessment. This invaluable tool aids in the diagnosis of a range of conditions including skeletal injury/disease, and conditions of internal organs such as the heart and the kidneys.

Our modern, purpose designed operating theatre facilitates routine surgeries such as neutering, as well as more complex non-elective surgeries and emergency procedures. Equipped with an array of anaesthetic monitoring equipment, pets are in good hands with our experienced surgeons and our knowledgeable anaesthesia nurses.

Cats, dogs, and rabbits are stoic creatures, and often dental problems don’t make themselves known until a pet is experiencing significant discomfort and pain. Our dental machine is equipped with power tools for scaling and polishing teeth, because preventing pet dental problems is better than curing them. We also have everything we need to extract teeth when necessary.

No matter where your pet is travelling to, we can help with the documentation and healthcare provisions required to make your journey smooth and stress-free. Animal Health Certificates (sometimes called Pet Passports), Export Health Certificates, rabies vaccinations; were clued up on them all. We do advise that you research pet travel requirements yourself on the government website, then get in touch with our friendly team in plenty of time so that we can make the relevant appointments for your needs
